The temporary Blijburg citybeach concept on the island of IJburg in Amsterdam was launched in 2003. It’s the perfect place to escape the hectic and crowded city center of Amsterdam with your family, friends or just by yourself to enjoy the sun, sea and beach. Uhm…sun, lake and beach. From day one on Blijburg was a major success and the beach can no longer be ignored, nor forgotten by the people of Amsterdam.

Blijburg is not only the name of the citybeach, but also the name of the beach pavilion. The food here is not great, but the beautiful horizon, the lovely ambiance and the delicious drinks do make up for it. You can even bring your own BBQ! There are lots of events in the summer and you can enjoy the summer vibe while listening to the tunes played by the DJ. Saturday 15th of September, the summer festival Costa del Soul takes place for the 8th time at the citybeach of Blijburg in Amsterdam. More than 50 DJ’s and live acts will perform here on 5 stages. Also, more than 30 artists will take up the task to decorate a huge wall. The outdoor festival starts from 12:00 to 24:00 and will continue indoor till 3:00.
