Former club Mazzo had already closed its doors for a while, when IQ Creative owner Bert van der Leden found the location suitable as a restaurant. Not just an average restaurant in Amsterdam. No, it needed an accessible concept with a living room feel, where customers can come in for lunch and dinner from early in the morning until late at night. As a tribute to the past, the owner of seafood restaurant Nevy, Brasserie Witteveen and Supperclub decided to name the restaurant after the former club Mazzo Amsterdam.
Italian restaurant Mazzo Amsterdam
Restaurant Mazzo mainly works with Italian products. Edwin Hathazi, Mazzo’s chef, went looking for the best and most unique products in Italy and the Netherlands to compose the menu of Mazzo. Here you can enjoy a good espresso in the morning, delicious sandwiches or a light pasta in the afternoon and in the evening an extensive dinner and a fine glass of wine. The dishes are simple, recognizable and affordable. There has been chosen for simplicity to the ingredients for the best taste as possible. After all, Italy is renowned for products such as olive oil, mozzarella and rucola (arugula), which already have a very rich flavour.
Interior Mazzo Restaurant
Upon entering we were very impressed with the interior of restaurant Mazzo. The collaboration with Architect Concrete they managed to create a typical home atmosphere using a combination of the original industrial look of the building and adding warm elements like the Chesterfield Sofas and long tables that really signatures the Italian family atmosphere. An eye catcher of Mazzo restaurant Amsterdam is the high open kitchen cupboard that runs throughout the interior, in which all the products that are worked with are displayed.
The beautiful large pictures on the wall reflect the experience of Mazzo: the new home of the Jordaan in Amsterdam!
