Last month Restaurant Mercat opened its doors in the former Panama. The property, which was acquired by Creative IQ, is completely redesigned. This is another new addition to Bert van der Leden who also owns the Supperclub, Nevy, Envy, Vyne and Mazzo in Amsterdam.
The new restaurant at the Amsterdam port area is entirely inspired by the typical Spanish markets, such as the world famous Mercat de la Boqueria on Las Ramblas in Barcelona. The interior is full of energy and speaks Spanish in a Dutch environment.
Spanish cuisine at Mercat
Restaurant Mercat mainly serves Spanish cuisines. You can enjoy a typical Spanish breakfast in the morning, an extensive lunch in the afternoon and a delicious dinner
in the evening. If you’d rather go for a drink? During all opening hours you are welcome to sit at the big open bar. Here you will find some of the pinchos displayed together with an enoteca (wine bar), where you can choose from a large selection of wines and cavas.
New start for Mercat
Mercat still needs to build brand awareness again with the locals. It is always a risk taking over a restaurant that has been closed for a couple of months. But we believe Mercat will do just very well. The food, staff and atmosphere we find at least Places We Know-worthy. Give it a try!
