Gamla Stan (the Old Town) is the old centre of Stockholm, filled with small streets, squares, palaces from the middle ages and the memories of chivalries. This old area in Stockholm is like a paradise when you want to get to know the city the Swedish way. A big part of Gamla Stan is free from cars, which makes more comfortable to stroll through it. The centre of this old area is Stortorget. You can get anywhere from here through all kinds of picturesque streets.
The old houses over here are aazing! Lots of them are build between 1600 – 1700 and there are just 400 – 500 aparments in the old centre, which only inhabited by 3000 residents.
The old city is quite touristy, but we’ve enjoyed strolling through it nevertheless.
Gamla Stan is a nice city, obligeded to a lots of nice shops, restaurants, cafes, ateliers and museums. The largest shopping street is Vasterlangagatan with larger and wellknown shops. There are a lots of small boutiques and art galleries in the main street.
